Notes - Very rare player shirt believed to have been issued to Schneider for the UEFA Cup Fourth Round 2nd Leg match against Celtic, played at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion on 27th February 2003. Die Schwaben had beaten Ventpils, Ferencváros and Club Brugge to make it this far but lost out to Celtic 3-1 in the 1st Leg in Glasgow despite leading through Kevin Kurányi's header. They looked to turn tie around here but early goals from Alan Thompson and Chris Sutton put the Scots firmly in the driving seat. Christian Tiffert pulled one back before the break. Then Aliaksandr Hleb and Michael Mutzel found the net in the second half but it wasn't enough as Celtic progressed 5-4 on aggregate. Schneider was an unused sub for the match as Stuttgart crashed out of the competition. The veteran had come up through the ranks at the side and was in his 12th year as a senior player. He made 10 appearances this season as Felix Magath's side finished distant runners-up to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. It was to be his final year with the club before joining Hannover, the defender left VFB having helped them win the 1991-92 Bundesliga, the 1997 DFB Pokal and two Intertoto Cups.
