Notes - Rare home shirt believed to have been worn by Whelan for the 2002-03 campaign. This season side enjoyed big wins over Manchester United and Liverpool at home and did the double over North East rivals Sunderland. This was Whelan's third and final season at the Riverside after joining Boro from Coventry in August 2000 as he helped the side to an 11th place finish in the Premier League. The former Leeds man made 15 appearances for the side scoring once before being loaned out to Division One side Crystal palace after the winter break. The former England Under-21 international went on to play for a whole host of club in Scotland and England including Derby County, Aberdeen and Millwall.
