The Reds had already beaten Shakhtar Donetsk to make it this far in the competition but they had lost the 1st leg 2-0 in Milan and looked to turn the tables here. Another close game in the Bulgarian capital saw the Serie A outift run out 1-0 winners thanks to Filippo Inzaghi's 62nd minute header. Yanev started on the bench but came on for Asen Bukarev with 23 minutes to play. The former Beroe was in his second season with the side and would go on to spend 6 gloarious seasons with Армейците before joining French outfit Grenoble in 2006. The 11 time Bulgarian international helped CSKA to 2 league titles in 02-03 and 04-05 and later went on to manage the club after retirement.
