This was the former Newcastle and Celtic man's Third at Tynecastle after joining his boyhood club in 1999 despite having previously spent 5 years with the Jam Tarts' Edinburgh rivals Hibernian. The striker made 14 appearances in all competitions for the Jambos before Livingston on loan in January 2001 for the remainder of the campaign. The ex Dundee United man scored just once this season but it proved to be a key goal in the UEFA Cup qualifying match against Icelandic outfit Vestmannaeyja. He left the club permanently at the end of the season to join St Johnstone after making 65 appearances for the side, the striker also earned a well deserved 28 caps for the Scottish national side between 1995-98. Hearts went on to finish 5th in the SPL in Craig Levein's first season in charge.
