Notes - Very rare player shirt believed to have been issued to Hughes for the Euro 2000 Qualification Group 3 match against Germany played at Windsor Park on the 27th March 1999. Northern Ireland had won, drawn and lost in their opening three group matches but Germany were under pressure for a victory after also losing in Istanbul. The visitors cruised to a 3-0 win with winger Marco Bode bagging a brace before Steve Morrow put the ball into his own net. Lawrie McMenemy's men went on to finish 4th out 5 in the group ahead of only Moldova. Hughes was an unused substitute for this match but the youngster went on to establish himself as a first team regular at St James' Park in 99-00 and became a stalwart of the side winning over 100 caps and eventually going to a major tournament with his country in 2016
