Notes - Extremely rare player shirt believed to have been worn by Herpoel in the friendly match against Holland played at De Kuip, Rotterdam on the 4th September 1999. The games between the two neighbours, rivals and co-hosts for the upcoming Euro 2000 was an all-time classic. Five goals a piece, fiesty challenges, brilliant moments of skill, this encounter had absolutely everything. It was a Davids brace and Kluivert hat-trick for the Dutch with Strupar (2), Goor, Wilmots and Mpenza all bagging for Belgium. 5-5, incredible. Herpoel joined the action as a 40th minute substitute for the injured Philippe Vande Walle to make his full international debut. When the Gent number one came on the scoreline was 2-1 to Belgium but in fairness there was little he could do with the goals which were more to do with shambolic defending than his goalkeeping. Herpoel went on to win 7 caps and went to Euro 2000 and the 2002 World Cup, in 03-04 he was named Belgian Goalkeeper of the Year
