Helmer had given the visitors the lead but Spanish substitute Alfonso Garcia levelled with his first touch. This was the sixth fixture of the club's first ever Bundesliga season and they went on to surprise everybody and finish in 10th place and had a telling say in the title run-in. 33 year old Kögl made 16 appearances scoring 1 goal in this season and played for one more year before retiring in 2001
