Notes - Extremely rare player shirt believed to have been issued to or worn by Bruggink for the UEFA U-21 European Championship held in Romania in May 1998. This was Holland's third appearance at the tournament finals after qualifying in '88 and '92. The format was straight to knockout and the side saw off the hosts in the Quarter Finals. Bruggink played the full game in the victory over Romania 2-1 and also contributed with 45 minutes when Hans Dorjee's men fancied their chances against Greece in the Semi's but were blown away 3-0 as Nikos Liberopoulos ran riot. Despite he was a regular in the national team youth sides, the defender would only make 2 appearances with the senior team.
