Notes - Home shirt as worn by Hamann in the 1998-99 season when Hamann was snapped up from Bayern Munich in the summer of '98 by boss Kenny Dalglish in a £5.5M deal. The German missed the opening part of the campaign with a foot injury but once recovered he soon earned a first tem place and went on to make 31 appearances in all competitions scoring 5 goals. The season ended with a Wembley appearance for Didi and the Toon but they were defeated by Treble chasing Man Utd. After playing an important role in that run and quickly adapting to the pace of the Premier League Gerard Houiller was desperate to take the midfielder to Anfield and coughed up £8M to do the deal. Hamann went on to be a Premier League stalwart until 2009 while also representing Germany 59 times and being involved at 4 major tournaments.
