Notes - Extremely rare player shirt believed to have been worn by Albert in the Champions League Group C match against PSV played at St. James' park, Newcastle on the 5th November 1997. This was The Toon's debut Champions League campaign and they had famously kicked it off in style with a gloriously thrilling 3-2 home victory over Barcelona. Kenny Dalglish's men backed that up with a hard fought 2-2 draw in Kiev after coming from 2-0 down. This was the reverse meeting against the Dutch side, after losing out 1-0 in Eindhoven during a tight fought affair with a 37th minute Wim Jonk goal providing decisive. Albert came on as an 80th minute substitute during that game, but he was selected from the off for the game on Tyneside. Unfortunately for the Toon, Albert's inclusion didn't pay off, with goals from star strikers Luc Nilis and Gilles De Bilde resulted in a 2-0 win for the Dutch side. Albert joined Newcastle in 1994 after transferring from Anderlecht, and he soon became a cult hero with his marauding runs from defense delighting the Toon faithful. Albert was issued #27 for domestic competitions after completing the transfer on his 27th birthday, but opted to wear #25 in the Champions League
