Notes - Extremely rare player shirt believed to have been issued to or worn by Henchoz during the period 1996-97. The former Xamax man had earned his first cap aged just 19 back in 1993 against Japan in a friendly. He had missed out on the side's USA 94' adventure but had been a key play two years later at Euro 96 in England where this classy Lotto design was worn. The shirt then rolled over to qualifying for the 1998 World Cup in France and the Swiss were placed in what appeared to be a fairly straightforward Group alongside Norway, Hungary, Finland and Azerbaijan. A torrid period ensued though as the Rossocrociati picked up just 3 wins from their 8 games and suffered an embarrassing loss to Azerbaijan in Baku to finish 4th overall. Henchoz featured in 7 of the side's qualifiers and represented his country 72 times in total between 1993-2006. At club level he enjoyed spells with Hamburg, Blackburn and Liverpool and would win a whole host of trophies with The Reds at Anfield.
