Notes - Extremely rare player shirt believed to have been worn by Goossens for a friendly match against the USA, played at Edmond Machtens Stadium in Brussels on 22nd April 1995. This was the first time the sides had met since way back in 1930 at the Inaugural World Cup Uruguay. A close game was decided by Gunther Schepens' goal just before half time, the Standard Liège man linking up well up front to slot a nice shot past a young Brad Friedel in the USA goal after the hosts had spurned some good early chances. Goossens started on the bench but entered the fray for Gilles De Bilde at half time, the striker earned 14 caps in total for his country scoring once in a narrow 2-1 loss to Germany in a friendly later this year. He spent the majority of his club career with Standard Liège in two separate spells with the side but also enjoyed a stay in Italy with Genoa and in Germany with Schalke. Despite the rest of the squad wearing the Diadora print style they had worn the previous year at the World Cup for this game when Goossens came of the bench he was wearing a more basic style print that can clearly be seen in the attached video.
