Notes - Ultra rare player shirt believed to have been worn by Whelan for the 1993 European Under-18 Championship Final against Turkey, played at the City Ground in Nottingham on 25th July 1993. The Young Lions were on a superb run in the competition and had picked up big wins over France, Holland and Spain in the Group Stage to reach the Final against a Turkey side who had only conceded once so far in the tournament. A great performance in the Final saw England run out 1-0 winners thanks to a late second half spot-kick from Tottenham starlet Darren Caskey. The result meant Gary Neville, Sol Campbell, Paul Scholes, Robbie Fowler and co lifted the trophy. Whelan came on in the second half a substitute and had also come on a sub in the 4-1 thrashing of Holland in the Group Stage. The forward went on to feature twice for England's U21 side and had spells with the likes of Coventry, Middlesbrough, Millwall, Derby and Aberdeen at club level.
