It was the first time La Furia Roja had beaten England on home soil since 1960. Goikoetxea earned 36 caps in total for his country between 1990-96 bagging 4 international goals and featuring for the nation at USA '94. The midfielder spent the best part of his club career with Barcelona, helping the Catalan outfit to 4 La Liga titles and famously the 1991-92 European Cup.
