Notes - Extremely rare player shirt believed to have been issued to Vink for the UEFA Cup Final. The kings of the European Cup in the early 70's Ajax had added a Cup Winners Cup to their honours sheet in 1987 but still required the UEFA Cup crown for the full set. And Louis van Gaal's highly talented side achieved that here thanks to an away goals triumph over Torino after a hard fought 180 minutes of action. The 1st leg was a classic at the Delle Alpi finishing 2-2 as the hosts came from behind twice. The 2nd leg was an agonising affair and Ajax survived to secure a 0-0 draw despite the visitors hitting the post and bar. Vink started both matches on the bench and wore #14 in both games. The midfielder was brought on as an 80th-minute substitute for Michel Kreek in the 2nd leg. Vink was a key part of the team during this season but was forced out to move to Italy at the end of the campaign having made 128 appearances in 5 seasons. Despite the similarity of colours, Ajax and Torino played in their home shirts in both games and this away shirt was not used.
