Notes - Extremely rare player shirt believed to have been worn by Bowen in the exhibition match against a Serie A XI played at Stadio San Paolo, Naples on the 16th January 1991. This match was a regular fixture of the football calendar in the 60s but this would be the last time that it would see the cream of both leagues go head-to-head. The Football League XI was coached by Lawrie McMenemy and included Liverpool legends Rush and Barnes alongside the likes of Limpar, Dixon and Ian Wright, Bowen came on as an 83rd minute substitute for Michael Thomas. The Serie A XI was legendary with van Basten, Matthaus and Careca teaming up to devastating effect and they ran out convincing 3-0 winners. After this star studded contest the fixture involved lower division representative teams instead. Bowen was regular Wales international and was recognised as one of the best left backs in the top flight at this time
